About the book, under an English heaven...

England is a magical place. It is a land of charm and whimsy. It is also a country with a weighty legacy and culture rife with traditions. Some of these institutions hint to an imperialistic past and a class-based society; vestiges of an era that now seem anachronistic. Yet there remains an innate beauty that cannot be denied… like the exquisiteness of an orange canary. Though the cage may have lost its luster, the bird remains brilliant and I’d like to believe, as poet Rupert Brooke’s image of England depicts, “…Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day/ And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness/ In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.”
